• In an assignment in Google Classroom, explain the book that you are reading independently.  If it’s a new book, explain why you are going to read it. If you have started reading it, explain what you like, what you don’t. Make sure to have the title, author, and page you are starting on today written.  This should be at an absolute minimum one paragraph. Read when done
• 20 minutes of reading your choice book –at end of 20, I may ask you for thoughts on what was read
• Career Research Time: English skills
• Basic skills notes due tomorrow
• Start Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening: anything you would read or write, any time you listen to people or talk to people count as these skills
• I’d suggest using ONET online as my first source for these

• Bell Ringer: Best points from yesterday’s discussion
• Reading Night
• Questions on the beginning of chapter 5 (66-76)
• How do we see the idea of Elie’s faith or loss of faith for anyone in the section we read? Be specific explaining what he’s feeling now (and what others are feeling).
• Rosh Hashanah = Jewish New Year = September.  What was the New Year’s ‘gift’ given to the prisoners? Explain what it is.
• How did Elie go through this ‘gift’? (pg 72)
• SUBMIT YOUR ANSWERS ON CLASSROOM
• Journal entry on 66-76 -I will check your highlighting from yesterday while you write
• You should have journals on: 3-11, 11-20, 20-28, 29-34, 34-46, 47-54, 54-65, 66-76
• Discuss Similarities and Differences of Elie and Primo, then interpretation of paragraph (first with partner, then with whole group)

Thursday, April 4 Agenda

• Highlight in two colors.  One color is similarities to Elie, the other is differences.
• At the end, explain in your own words what the last paragraph of the selection means, focusing especially on what the two meanings of ‘extermination camp’ are.

Wednesday, April 3 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Night: Ms. B reads to: 61
• You read to: 65 (end of ch 4).  As you read, jot down important details, connections, questions, etc.  You will have a small group discussion on this part
• Now create at least one question on the pages read!** bring notes and question to me when done
• Once you have that, make sure you have written the following things:
• In Journal section: One short paragraph explaining what concentration camp life has made of Elie so far (last line read on 54)** -should be done
• Then pick a section/idea from page 47-54 and respond to it/reflect on it (shorter journal) -should be done
• You need one journal entry from pg 54-65 –DO THIS NOW
• If you finish all of this before we move on, read your independent book!!!
• Discuss: How do we see the idea of Elie’s faith or loss of faith in the section you read? Be specific explaining what he’s feeling now.
• Share your textual evidence if you have some (on sheet, or marked in book)
• Make sure to take notes (or check the notes you have), you will want it for Thursday, work on your basic info section of research when you have at least three pieces of textual evidence

Friday, March 29 Agenda

• Bell Ringer: Night 40-46
• Reader’s Response Journal
• Make sure that you have all 5 journals done (3-11, 11-20, 20-28, 29-34, 34-46)
• Journals should start with a piece of evidence with an in-text citation and then be around a half page of handwritten text giving your thoughts/reactions/connections/etc. to that evidence/section
• Read Independent book when done
• Time to finish Career Cruising Assignments in ACP class (need all three done by Monday)
• Independent Reading Time -final time to turn in or present anything for 3rd quarter
• Presentation: Ramsey, others?
