Tuesday, Dec. 23 Agenda: Have a great break!

•Bell Ringer for those gone yesterday: He calls work of fiction, could anyone write or did you have to experience it first?

•Outline a three paragraph answer to this.  Using your list of the things they carried throughout the story, make sure to cite details that could only be known if experienced.  Or explain how people would know these things if anyone could write it, but still use the specific textual evidence that could be known.

•Present outline (if you were here yesterday): print up two copies (if done on computer)

•Begin reading “Love” and “Spin” independently

•While reading, mark evidence in the book to help you answer questions as well as keep track of important ideas or events

•Discussion on these stories will be after break, if you don’t finish today, it is homework!

•If you finish reading before we move on, work on reading own book

•Bell Ringer: Autobiographies vs. Short Stories from personal experience (Fictional Autobiographies): talk about your answer in WN from Wednesday

•Take out a sheet of paper.  Make two columns, one for LITERAL the other for FIGURATIVE, as we read, fill this out

•Read “TTTC”

•Writing based on page 20 quotes

•“They were afraid of dying but they were even more afraid to show it” (O’Brien 20).

•“They used a hard vocabulary to contain the terrible softness” (O’Brien 20).

•“It wasn’t cruelty, just stage presence. They were actors” (O’Brien 20).

•What would you do if you were in Elie’s position from arriving at Buchenwald to grudgingly giving his dad his soup? HONEST!
