  1. One of the things people should take away from this book is to not lie. lying is bad.If you lie to people all the time, as soon as you're telling the truth they will not believe you. if it is something really bad and people don't believe you, you're screwed.

  2. I think they should take out the profanity in the book Catcher in the Rye. In the book they say words that should not be out out in the book, because he's a young teenager that ran away to New York and thought hew was better than most people.

  3. One lesson people should take away from Catcher in the Rye is drug and alcohol underage use. I think this because because it can be a life lesson on how much Holden drinks within the book and how teens today shouldn't drink that much.

The second lesson people should take away from this book is how to get over loss. I think this is a good lesson to take away from the book because all people grieve over someone or something that was very close to them.

  5. Another thing people should take away from this book is to not trust a PIMP. He will tell you a prostitute is only five dollars then latter that night he will tell you it was ten dollars. Then you will refuse to pay ten dollars. That is when he will jump you, and leave you there in pain.

  6. After reading "The Catcher in the Rye," there are a couple of things that a person should take away from this book. For instance the momentary value of reading what some teens in the 1940's lives' were like. How they had so much freedom, and the ability to buy and consume alcohol and tobacco products. Another thing that people should take away from the book, is that the profanity of the early to mid 1900's was full of prostitution, slackers (of school, work and every day life) and the fact that people back then had struggled with depression and lonesome feelings. Although it's the early 2000's, people still are encountering similar but not exact feelings, troubles and obstacles.

  7. What people should take away from the book The Catcher in the Rye is how depression can trap you in your life, and how you can find many different ways to overcome that depression.

  8. One of the things People should take away from The Catcher In The Rye is the language that they use.

student's don't need to hear the things that Holden say's. Yes it is a book and books have foul language but the words he uses are words that students shouldn't be hearing in this book.

I also think that they should take out the underage tobacco students or parents are going to read this book and think it's okay to chew,They are going to be like well Holden is 15 and chewing why can't I?

The things I liked most about Catcher In the Rye is that it was an amazing book, It deals with the way teenagers are today and how they act.

I didn't like that they have bad language or fighting that is the main things I don't like about this book. Otherwise it was a pretty good book.

I recommend everyone that is 15 and up to read this book.

This book made me think a lot, after reading this book I look around and think that some people in this school act like Holden, Which i thought maybe they read the book and thought that they were coming close to it as some people said that they connected to the book.

  9. What I liked about the book Catcher in the Rye is the fact that I could some what relate to the book. What I did not like about the book is the part about the prostitute, and the underage smoking. It made me think that he was smoking around his little sister that he never mentions in the book.

  10. i did not like this book because the character seemed to repeat himself, a lot. i just didn't really like this book in general. I didn't like this book because of the language and the way the words were written. it just got really annoying. the only thing this book got me thinking about was why and how it could possibly be a 'Classic'. if a book is a 'Classic' shouldn't everybody like it? Not going to lie, this is probably the worst book I have ever read.

  11. The book "The Catcher in the Rye" obtains a large number of, what would be considered to be, life lessons. In depth, this book teaches each reader about the importance of healthy relationships with others and being close to family. However, I feel that the single most important lesson that can be taken from "The Catcher in the Rye" is that feelings aren't meant to be ignored.

  12. What I didn't like about this book was how Holden is able to drink in almost every chapter of this book. I didn't really like anything, it was all too cheesy to me.

  14. Beings that I had to read the book "The Catcher in the Rye," for a grade; I was thinking that the book was going to drag on about some delinquents' life and how he thinks he's got the life of a homeless man in the middle of an empty utopia; how he misses being waited hand and foot. The fact that Salinger, wrote this book in the perspective of a teenage boy, who felt like he was being pushed away from childhood and rushed into adulthood. He feels as if adults don't understand the lives of teens. Most would say that teens now-a-days aren't teens anymore, or that we aren't like the teens back then. In truth, they are true; we are still teens, we still have our lives, still go through troubles: yet we have a huge advance into technology and use that to our advantage.
This book wouldn't be my first pick or even my last pick. I would however read this book if it was forced upon me (as it was in Contemp. Lit.). This book has taught me a bit about how we are similar to teens of the early days, and how we are different. All-in-all the book is an okay book and I do sort of like the book.

  15. "The Catcher in the Rye" so far, has been my favorite book read in any of my high-school English classes. The thing I liked the most is that I can relate to a lot of the events and emotions that took place within this book. Because of that, there was nothing I didn't like about this book.

  16. Catcher in the Rye relates many of the eperiences teenagers experience today,or atleast something similar. Holden goes through depression, mental illness, and childhood relationships and seems to fail at all of them but could basically be an example to everyone what not to do.

  17. I felt the Catcher in the Rye was generally a good book with some unnecessary stupidity on the part of the main character. I liked how the book portrayed teenage issues in percptives not easily understood in today's modern society, Yet it displayed many virtues and mind-sets that teens still deal with today.

  18. what people should take away from this book is everything changes. People die but you cant blame the whole world. You cant live the life like he did are you will get your ass kicked. become very ill and basically almost kill yourself.

  20. What should people take away from the book "Catcher in the Rye?"
In my opinion from reading this book I think the use of vulgar language should be taken out. Holden (main character) uses this vulgar language because that's who he is and expresses himself repeatedly with these words throughout the book. He says things over and over again which got a little annoying, but that was the author's choice, and I can not do a thing to change that.

  21. I liked reading "Catcher in the Rye" because it's about a teenager's life. The events that occurred, Holden's attitude, his personality, and his life is very similar to some people's lives today.
What I didn't like was some characters, how they acted towards the other characters, and Holden's repeated vulgar language. Also I didn't like how the book was made, I think it should have been bigger, but I can't change that.
Yes, this book did make me think quite a bit. It made me think about other people and how they seem to not grasp a hold onto what they can be, the curiosity of Holden and the ducks made me think of how I get curious a lot about nature and why they do the things they do. Also his life situations that aren't so good, and thinking what if I had to go through what he went through. It's just touching because I haven't even experienced what he's gone through and i'm glad that people find help in life so they can be successful or achieve a big goal.
The book was very fun and interesting to read overall. I think every teen, at least the age of 15 should read this if they haven't because it's a really good book to see what lessons can be learned.
